There's something to be said for being the best. My boyfriend can't stand my inner elitist streak, but it mostly results in hardcore praise and #fangirl-ing that comes out when I'm impressed. Whether you're the best in your professional field, a hobby, or something as mundane as having the best handwriting, I find that there's a certain magical quality that's captured within the elite. Whatever your personal values, chances are that those you're extra drawn to exemplify those traits in some way.
I also get a little bit star-struck and intimidated in the presence of someone I really admire. Sometimes, it's because I consider them to be superhumanly smart. I could barely sleep the night before interviewing Dr. Harold Lancer — and he's just Kim Kardashian's dermatologist! When it came to Dr. Norman Leaf — Hollywood's behind-the-scenes facelift guru — I started thinking about just how impressive it is to be one of the best prestigious fields like medicine, surgery, and plastic surgery.
My reverence comes from a place of total awe. It says something to be singled out for being the best. And so, when I learned from the December 2017/January 2018 Town & Country that Leonardo DiCaprio's publicist, Peggy Siegal, author of How to Look Like Me at 60 and How to Look Like Me at 70, had created her very own "best list" in the world of beauty and advanced esthetics, I had to get my hands on it.

The highly sought-after list was distributed at her 70th birthday party last summer. Among the list's exclusive recipients? Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone, and Reese Witherspoon. Needless to say, the high profile publicist (who reps Academy Award Winners up the wazoo) is firmly in-the-know when it comes to all things high society.

Here's what I learned:
1. The NYC Face-Lift Guru
(Photo via Fashion Week Daily)
Dr. Gerald Imber is New York's most elite plastic surgeon. He's also the one you go to when you "don't want to look done." He's been quoted as saying that if it won't look natural, it's not worth doing. Peggy has received body lifts, facelifts, a neck lift, and a forehead lift from him.
He also offers three beauty tips when it comes to cosmetic surgery:
1. Start early and keep ahead of the game. Don't wait until you look like your mother.
2. The art is always looking like the best version of yourself.
3. The only good lines are smile lines.
2. The Smile Perfector
(Photo via Interview Magazine)
Dr. Marc Lowenberg is the cosmetic dentistry wizard for every Park Avenue socialite. He gave Peggy her third set of veneers (ouch!) and has perfected the smiles of countless actors, models, rock stars, authors, and other public figures.
3. The Anti-Aging Innovator + Nutritionist to the Stars
(Photo via Well and Good)
Another notable mention? Dr. Oz Garcia, celebrated "Nutritionist to the Stars" and Anti-Aging expert. His NY-based Anti-Aging Clinic utilizes IV therapy and customized diets to hold onto your youthfulness for as long as possible.
The following doctors weren't on Peggy's list, but they're named by T&C for being rising stars in the field. It's important to keep up with the next-generation of experts because they'll be the ones running the show by the time I'm 50 and looking to correct sagging skin...
- Dr. Sheila Nazarian is the mommy makeover specialist helping celebs score their post-baby shapes.
- Dr. Haideh Hirmand works wonders on restoring youth to the delicate and tricky eye area — one of the most revealing areas of the body when it comes to aging.
- Dr. Anthony Youn is admittedly the dude I would probably end up going to if I ever got work done. Why? He's an actual holistic plastic surgeon. He uses diet, stress-reduction, and skincare modalities to treat his patients both before and after surgery.
That being said, part of the reason I'm so big on preventative treatments and high quality skincare (and holistic health, for that matter) is to be able to avoid a facelift at 50 altogether. Still, Peggy does look amazing for 70!
