Welcome! If you're reading this, it means that you've found my first ever blog post. Please bear with me as I get adjusted :)
I started my career as a professional writer about a year and a half ago, after attending grad school at Columbia University and becoming a clinical social worker. I made the professional switch because of a common complaint among clinicians: burn-out. While still working as a full-time therapist, I realized that the writing I did on the side for clients was itself a form of self-care. That's when I decided to make a go of writing professionally — and I am so glad I did.
The most amazing part about being a writer is the flexibility and freedom it affords me. I write for the clients I choose on topics that interest me, and am free to research, interview, write, and pitch as I see fit. I get to talk to fascinating people, I'm always learning new things, and I get tons of free swag — I definitely can't complain.
...And this is where the blog comes in.
Throughout the course of my client work, I am constantly uncovering quality info that's just too good to pass up. While it might not fit the angle my client is going for, it's still fascinating and/or useful enough that it's worth sharing with any of you with interests similar to mine. Accordingly, the bulk of my posts will fall into the categories of writing that I do professionally — Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle, and Health & Wellness. As a general rule, the greener the better, and I also have a particular love of celebrity topics.
Think of this blog like an interactive author page. You can also always check out my Instagram account
for news on select posts, as well as the up-to-date author pages of the various digital platforms I write for (Brit + Co., Top5, etc.). Last, but not least, my Pinterest account is like a digital rough draft for each of the articles I work on. Every product I consider including goes onto a pinboard first.
Thanks so much for reading this!
