I unwittingly found a smoothing solution for crow's feet this past week. During my attempts to resurface away a skin reaction (i.e. clogged pores on my forehead) from a primer that didn't agree with me, combined with a horrible bout of PMS-meets-Full-Moon Mode, I noticed some serious reduction in my around-the-eye lines. While I am not against preventative anti-aging measures like injectable neurotoxins (i.e. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin), this post is totally needle-free. Just look at those crinkles below!
"Wrinkle-Central" chez The Deck at Laguna Beach
To get my forehead back to normal, I drew from a few tips I scored from celebrity skin experts on how to handle breakouts STAT. I incorporated active ingredients that exfoliate, resurface, and accelerate cellular turnover — including vitamin A, or retinol — into my regimen to get rid of those clogged pores ASAP. Here's the exciting part: This combo of skin-fixers also works wonders for smoothing the outer corners of your eyes! Plus, I've included a couple mommy-safe solutions that don't include vitamin A!
If you get bummed out over crow's feet, you can relax. They're one of the first places cosmetic dermatologists have to treat on young women getting injectable neurotoxins for the first time, along with the crease between your brows (the "glabella"). They're totally normal! But you do want to act quickly to ensure those bad boys don't become deep and permanent.
Here's the formula that did the trick for me. (P.S. I also have one coming that got rid of the blackheads on my nose. Cha-Ching!)
A CRINKLY CROW'S FEET SOLUTION:
Tip 1: The Eye Patch: Earth Therapeutics Collagen Hydrogel Under-Eye Patch ($16 for 5)
I noticed more from these beauty editor-approved collagen-infused patches by Earth Therapeutics than I do from my P.M. Patchology Restorative Eye Patches with Retinol. Gasp! I didn't even use them consecutively, but by my fourth patch, I already saw some serious improvement.
Here's what the little bb's contain:
Tip 2: The A.M. Serum: Verso Skincare Super Facial Serum ($120)
I've been grabbing my Verso serum containing the industry's ONLY daytime-safe form of Retinol, instead of my usual vitamin C, to get as much of vitamin A's resurfacing benefits as possible. The Swedish skincare line founder, Lars Frederikkson, patented his own form of the anti-aging ingredient — retinol 8 — which is clinically proven to be both less irritating and eight times as effective as other forms of retinol. I made a point of applying it to the delicate crow's foot area to minimize lines, as well as my nose, to get rid of blackheads. They offer an even better solution for daytime crow's feet maintenance in the form of their Super Eye Serum ($80), but I don't own it.
Note: I did notice drying and flaking from the strong exfoliator! If this happens to you, give yourself an extra dose of soothing hydration to treat it. And don't mix your retinol serum with vitamin C — they can counteract each others' efficacy.

Tip 3: The Eye Cream: Volition Beauty A.M. P.M. Helix Eye Gel ($52)
I am totally loving this eye cream. It's a clear gel that absorbs like invisible velvet into the skin while imparting a gentle blurring that reduces the appearance of surface imperfections. Its miraculous smoothing powers come from the infamous escargot-derived beauty ingredient: an anti-aging helix complex to repair lines using SNAIL SLIME! Don't worry — no snails were harmed in its making!

Tip 4: The PM Power-Combo: Sunday Riley Power Couple Duo: Total Transformation Kit, Luna Night Oil + Good Genes($85)
If you've read up on my skincare preferences, you already know that I adore this game-changing duo. They work together, or "interlock," for ultimate efficacy. Apply the oil first and then lactic acid treatment; Good Genes exfoliates surface level cells which allows the potent retinol in Luna to penetrate your skin more effectively, also maximizing Tansy oil's soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. You will undoubtedly notice fewer wrinkles in as little as 3 minutes.
Tip 5: A Hyaluronic Acid-Packed Moisturizer: Sunday Riley Tidal ($65)
Hyaluronic acid is amazing for boosting moisture because it grabs hydration from the air, and this correcting gel-cream contains two different forms of it. It boosts your skin's moisture by 68% in just 15 minutes and helps it retain moisture for 24 hours. While HA already gives you a little plumping effect that makes wrinkles disappear, you'll also get some great brightening from this water cream. But, its HA was the key ingredient I was going for. Hint: It's also one of the key ingredients in the essence I've reached for this week, LGH Tea Tree Essence ($45).
Bonus: "Mommy-Safe" Solutions
Need an All-Natural, Mommy-Safe Wrinkle Filler? Try Monastery Aloe Hyaluronic Gel ($72).
This one is for Retinol-Phobes, green beauty sticklers, or pregnant and nursing mothers who cannot use vitamin A. Aloe is insanely hydrating — much more so than water — and it's combined with the aforementioned hydration-enhancer and skin-plumper, hyaluronic acid, in this handmade gel from San Francisco. I love putting it on my neck and hands because it's got a stacked lineup as a green-friendly wrinkle-filler. It's also great for dry or sensitive skin!
Another industry-favorite retinol alternative you can't miss is Pai Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil ($40). It's clean, green, and gets rave reviews!
